Skin Rejuvenation Q & A
What is Laser Genesis?
Laser Genesis is a noninvasive laser therapy that gently heats the upper dermis of your skin. Your body takes note of the warmth and perceives it as creating possible damage to your skin cells. The therapy stimulates the production of collagen and other natural substances your body uses to rebuild and repair your skin.
What conditions does Laser Genesis treat?
Laser Genesis promotes vibrant and healthy looking skin in men and women by successfully treating skin issues often associated with aging and sun damage. This includes:
- Brown spots and other skin discoloration
- Dull appearance and uneven texture
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Enlarged pores
Laser Genesis also decreases redness associated with rosacea, acne outbreaks, and other skin conditions. Additionally, it dramatically diminishes or even eliminates the appearance of scars. Laser Genesis can be used on virtually any area of the face and neck. Dr. Mosel has had great success in treating scars on other areas of your body with this treatment, as well.
Is Laser Genesis painful?
There’s no discomfort associated with Laser Genesis treatments. In fact, most patients find the sessions relaxing. As the handheld device is passed back and forth about half an inch above the treatment area, you can expect your skin to warm up. But it’s not the intense heat experienced with some lasers. The sessions last about 30 minutes.
Are there side effects?
You may notice mild redness in the treatment area after the procedure, but this typically fades within an hour. There’s no recovery or downtime necessary after a Laser Genesis treatment. You can return to work or other routine activities immediately. However, be sure to apply sunscreen if you plan to be outdoors.
How long before I see results?
You may notice subtle changes immediately, but it takes 3-4 weeks for new cells to reach your skin’s surface. Because the increased collagen production continues beyond that timeframe, you can expect continued improvement over the next several weeks.
Will I need more than one treatment?
Most patients notice optimal results with 4-6 treatments, spaced one month apart. Dr. Mosel will discuss your goals and suggest the appropriate number of sessions before your first treatment.
